Why Donate to Healing Companions?

HappyOur psychiatric service dogs have helped those with mental illness take their lives back.  But the amount of time and work required to train our dogs is much higher than most people would ever imagine.

It takes 18-24 months and up to $20,000 to fully train a psychiatric service dog to be ready to live with and assist a client.  Throughout this process, there is an ongoing need for food, equipment and veterinary care, as well as the highly specialized, one-on-one training psychiatric service dogs require.

What if we told you that just a few dollars a month could make the difference between an unwanted shelter dog being destroyed, and that same dog finding a loving home and helping someone struggling with mental illness live a healthy, dignified life?

I looked to get a psychiatric service dog because I have bipolar disorder, anxiety, eating disorder, lots of other stuff, and I’ve been on lots and lots of medications and unfortunately, there’s a small percentage of people that get very, very sick from medications, especially anti psychotics, and nothing else would work for me. Please make a donation to help others find peace with a psychiatric service dog.

Healing Companions’ benefit to our community is two-fold: a shelter dog’s life is saved; the trained psychiatric service dog provides someone who has mental illness with assistance and promotes a higher level of functioning and participation in society. A gift of $300 buys food for a service dog for one year.

A gift of $1000 provides a Pet Tutor and four Manners Minders for service dog
training.

PLATINUM SPONSOR

A gift of $5000 will provide crates for every single dog at our training center.

LIFETIME PATRON

Your gift of $10,000- $20,000 will save the life and completely fund the training of
one psychiatric service dog from start to finish.
