Psychiatric Service Dogs: Giving Comfort, Courage to Heal

In the way guide dogs help the blind, psychiatric service dogs help people with emotional and psychological disorders navigate through life. Participants will learn to define acronyms and terms used with service, therapy and assistance dogs. Discussion and conditions that determine patient qualifications, legal and psychiatric for PSD and how it applies for someone being qualified for a PSD. There will be examples and discussion of options and possibilities of specific tasks based on the individuals needs with demonstration and video demonstration.
Fee: $65 or $70 at the door. Continuing education credits available; see MSASS web site for details.
