Newman’s Own Challenge ~ Save the Date

We’ve partnered with our friends at Crowdrise and the Newman’s Own Foundation to take part in the 2017 $500,000 Holiday Challenge to help provide more Psychiatric Service Dogs for those in need.

Beyond basic obedience training, each dog we work with must be specially trained for the specific needs of the client. It can take up to $20,000 and 2 years of specialized training to achieve this.

While we’re proud to have a big impact, the fact is we are still a small organization, and our mission depends on the support of our readers and community to continue being successful.

But our small size and lack of bureaucracy also allows us to have a minimal amount of overhead, and put the maximum amount of every dollar into helping people struggling with mental illness.

Here’s some concrete examples of how your contribution makes a difference:

  • $75 buys a year of heart worm treatment for one dog.
  • $100 buys a crate for one dog during their training.
  • $300 buys food for a service dog for one year.
  • $1000 provides a Pet Tutor and four Manners Minders for service dog training.
  • $10,000- $20,000 will save the life and completely fund the training of one psychiatric service dog from start to finish.

Regardless of how much you’re able to give, you now have the chance to multiply that gift at no additional cost to you!

Organizations participating in the Newman’s Own Holiday Challenge compete for a share of $500,000 in cash prizes, based on how much money they raise.

The Challenge launches on Tuesday, November 21st, 2017 at 12pm ET and runs through Wednesday, January 3rd, 2018 at 1:59:59pm ET.

Founder, Healing Companions, Inc.

As we look back on another great year of helping people with mental illness reclaim their lives with the help of Psychiatric Service Dogs, we need to reflect back on those who helped make it all possible.

Thanks to support from people like you, we were able to help people like Tracy feel the joy of living again.

“I have post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Finola was trained to help me with my panic attacks. Without Finola I would be housebound..I can’t even imagine how I would survive without the help of a service dog..Finola has definitely transformed my life.”

It’s your empathy and generosity that makes successes like these possible. We can never thank you enough.

Thank you Advance Partners!
