After spending so much time with our dogs during the pandemic, the importance of a dog-friendly company as we return to the workplace is obvious.
Rover’s study on the “Best Dog-Friendly Companies” considered items such as whether a company allows dogs in the office; paid time off for pet bereavement or adoption; stipends for pet insurance and/or adoption; and if there are any in-office perks like treats, gates, and dog beds.
Returning to work after the pandemic has caused stress for many people and introducing therapy dogs in the workplace may be beneficial in myriad ways. With our Dogs At Work Program, therapy dogs can provide support to employees, helping them work more efficiently with less stress and feel more fully engaged at work.
The presence of therapy dogs in the workplace, in addition to reducing employee stress, can increase work satisfaction, and lead to greater staff retention. Jane Miller welcomes discussions with employers about how therapy dogs can have a positive effect on employees in general. She can also provide comprehensive education to corporate leaders on the benefits of Psychiatric Service Dogs (PSDs) in the workplace for an employee that may be struggling with mental illness, as well as the differences between Therapy Dog visits and PSDs and ESAs.
